Botanical name: Dendrobium nobile    Family: Orchidaceae (Orchid family)

Noble Dendrobium is a beautiful and forever enchanting orchid, originating from the dense forests of Thailand and NE India. It is a tree-dwelling or rock-dwelling orchid boasting short racemes of 2-4 sweet-scented, rose-pink flowers, up to 5 cm across, adorned with a dark purple lip. Blooming from winter into spring, the showy and delicate flowers arise from the leafless nodes, and they last 3-6 weeks. The strap-shaped oval leaves, 5-8 cm long, are often evergreen in cultivation. Noble Dendrobium is quite popular as a decorative houseplant because it blooms in winter and spring when little else is in flower. Noble Dendrobium is native to Nepal to NE India, S. China and Indo-China.
